Ο πρόεδρος της ad hoc επιτροπής του Συμβουλίου Κρίκετ του Μπαγκλαντές, Ταμίμ Ικμπάλ, ξεκαθάρισε ότι το διοικητικό συμβούλιο δεν θα διοργανώσει μια «μωσαϊκή» έκδοση της Πρέμιερ Λιγκ του Μπαγκλαντές, εν μέσω συνεχιζόμενων ανησυχιών για την ποιότητα των πρωταθλημάτων, την οικονομική αστάθεια και τις διοικητικές αποτυχίες.
Speaking to reporters in Mirpur on Thursday, Tamim said hosting the tournament without capable franchises would do more harm than good.
“I will not organise a BPL with patchwork solutions. It is better not to hold the tournament than to stage it just for the sake of it,” Tamim said.
“I have always believed the BPL should be held regularly, but the biggest challenge is finding quality franchises. If suitable franchises are not available, then there is no need to organise the BPL.”
The former Bangladesh captain also stressed that knowingly making decisions that could damage the BCB would be unacceptable.
“If I knowingly do something that causes the BCB to suffer, then that is a crime. Mistakes can happen, but knowingly making mistakes is criminal,” he added.
BCB Ad-hoc Committee member Fahim Sinha also revealed several administrative failures from the previous season.
According to him, franchises representing Sylhet and Noakhali reportedly participated in the tournament without formal agreements with the board, while the BCB also made a mistake by assuming financial responsibility for Chattogram Royals.
He assured that such irregularities would not be repeated in future editions.
The board has also held discussions with Cricketers’ Welfare Association of Bangladesh president Mohammad Mithun to ensure players receive their payments properly.
Fahim said the BCB plans to introduce clearer guidelines so that cricketers do not face financial complications due to contractual loopholes in future BPL seasons.
