Cops probing Ibrox fan violence after Old Firm match release CCTV of 24 people

CCTV images of 24 people have been released as part of an investigation into disorder among Rangers and Celtic fans at Ibrox Stadium. Ugly scenes broke out following the Scottish Cup Quarter-Final on Sunday, March 8.

It saw flares fired into the midst of fans, while supporters, police officers, and those working at the stadium came under attack. A steward was seen being carried from the pitch, believed to have been injured in the chaos.

A number of people were also pictured receiving medical treatment. Now, officers investigating the violence have released stills of people they believe may be able to assist with their ongoing enquiries.

Those depicted or anyone who believes they may recognise them are asked to contact police, quoting incident number 0899 of 8 March, 2026.

Following the match, Celtic striker Tomáš Čvančara, who scored the winning penalty for his side, was interviewed for TV wearing a blood-stained shirt. He had been photographed intervening in an incident on the field.

A member of Celtic’s coaching staff was also allegedly attacked and there was violence outside of the stadium after the game. Operation Moonglint was subsequently launched by Police Scotland to trace those responsible.

The total number of arrests in connection with the disorder currently stands at 20.

It comes as Rangers have been handed just over 2,000 tickets for this weekend's Old Firm showdown at Parkhead as they travel to Glasgow's east end on Sunday for the final derby of the season.

Rangers face a daunting trip to Celtic Park - with Martin O'Neill's side still clinging onto their five-in-a-row dreams - but will do so without the backing of the Union Bears, who have been locked out by Celtic following March's Scottish Cup clash between the sides.

Raging Ibrox chiefs complained to the SPFL, who set up a sub-committee to rule on the latest ticket fallout.

League bosses ruled Rangers were entitled to their five per cent allocation, but backed Celts by saying they would “not overrule a risk assessment carried out by the party legally responsible for the safety and security of the event”.

Now, with just days to go before the clash, Rangers have released the agreed batch of tickets to fans.
